It’s A…..  RSS

Posted on March 21st, 2006 in Baby, Pregnancy

Sorry I’m a day late (though, hopefully, not a dollar short); I know that many of you have been anxiously awaiting the boy/girl announcement. So here goes…Oh, first let me say thanks for the many happy birthday wishes yesterday!

Alright, so you want to know what the baby is? It’s a girl! Boy is it nice to be able to refer to the baby as “her” as opposed to “the baby” or “it”. It does, however, mean that we might have to take back the cute pirate onsie that M picked out for the baby a few weeks ago. I’m still debating about the onsie because, although it is trimmed in blue and pirate themed, it is the first thing we bought for her.

The ultrasound tech and the doc both said that everything looked good on the ultrasound. We saw 2 hands with 4 fingers and a thumb (per hand that is), 2 long skinny feet with 5 toes each, 2 eyes and 2 ears (doesn’t look like she is going to have Webb ears, she will be glad of that one day), the bones in her arms and legs, the chambers of her heart and the arch of her aorta, all of her ribs and vertebrae, the perfectly formed little nostrils and nasal bones (ruling out cleft palate), the dark areas that are her kidneys and bladder, and in some of the pictures we have you can see where the plates of her skull are coming together and the “dark matter” that is her brain. They say she weighs about 12 ounces now.

The whole process was amazing (as those of you who have experienced it can attest), and M and I really enjoyed seeing her and knowing that everything looks just like it should. It is amazing to think of how God has knitted our precious little girl together in His image and like no other person He has ever created. It really makes me stop in awe and wonder when I think of the intricacies of the human body and how each one is created uniquely and for God’s own purpose.

I hope to get some “belly” pictures posted before too long, and if we can scan the ultrasound pics I’ll put some of those up as well.

Thanks for caring about us and the baby!

Big pink congratulations! Girls are absolutely wonderful! Can I just say I told you so? The small group is tired of hearing me say you are going to have a girl. :-) Between A, K and Q, you probably could get by without buying a single article of girl clothes! I think you should keep the pirate onesie and just put it away for Little (lovely name, by the way). Jon was adamant that we have names chosen by the time we had our 5 month ultrasound so that we could refer to the baby by name, just like you said. Great news! Keep the blogs coming!

I am so happy for you all. Looks like we might already have our 4 four precious boys for this generation. I for one, hope she is not cursed with the famous ears(being one who is that is). Congratulations!!! Now I can go buy HER something. YEA!!! Happy belated birthday.

Never noticed the “ears”....I will have to look the next time I see you, J. I am,for one, glad she doesn’t have the Baker duck feet! I can hardly wait to hold Baby Little-my 1st granddaughter (just keep’em coming). Of course, we do need some grandsons to carry on the family name…no pressure here! Will she be a blondie like her Mom with maybe some Baker blue eyes! I am going to have to learn to fly so I can hold my granddaughter on a regular basis!

Everyone here is so excited about baby Little!!! Aunt C said way to go! C said that L should have another one now (a girl of course) so that they could grow up together. I can hardly wait until this weekend so we can see the ultrasound pictures and go shopping for her!! I refrained from buying the outfit I found Sunday so we could shop together, and actually I haven’t had time to go back and get it. I can hardly wait until she gets here. And lastly, I’m soooo glad that Shirley the cat isn’t going to be my only female grandchild!! We love you guys.

    Congratulations!

We’re so happy that all is well with you & baby Little. I love that name!

From John specifically for M: Don’t let the girls outgun you. When you want to watch a ballgame, just turn it on. And, buckle up.

Well, I’m so excited for you. For me, my pregnancy was incredibly enriched knowing that I was having a baby girl.

Enjoy this time. I think it was around 23-25 weeks that John could feel strong kicks coming from my belly. Many a time he wondered how I could deal with someone kicking me from the inside. And to think…that was H!

To me, all of the kicking and moving made all (or most of) the yucky stuff pale in comparison.

Hope to talk to you soon.

    Congrats again!

    (PS. Happy Birthday)
