Quick, before I get Sidetrack'd

Appropriate attire

Thoughtfully penned on June 14th, 2007 and generally concerning Sidetrack'd

Okay, I’m in a bit of a quandary (aren’t I always?). We have a family wedding coming up next weekend, and I can’t find anything to wear!

What is appropriate for a formal, indoor, summer wedding that begins at 8 pm (no formal dinner, just a dessert reception)? Is sleeveless okay? Bare legs (with a skirt and shoes, of course)? Black if the mother of the groom is wearing black? Add to the mix that Matt is a groomsman and will, therefore, be in a tux.

Help, It’s been a while since I’ve been to a dressy event (as if that weren’t obvious)!

Thanks, in advance, for your kind comments and advice.

*Update* I’ve since learned that the mother of the groom is wearing a sleeveless, cocktail length dress; that helps.

Noise from the peanut gallery

  1. I think sleeveless and bare legs is fine. I always go with black and white if my hubby is in the wedding party and wearing a tux. I’m sure you’ll look great!

  2. Bare legs – great! Cute shoes – great! Black & sleeveless – great! Color – great! Fun jewelry – great! Summer is a great time to pull off anything!
