What an apt description of the day!! You have a way with words and the ability to tie things together. I'm glad power is restored in your home. And I'm glad Power fills your soul!!

I used to enjoy when the power would go out in the summer (for a few hours, tops!) when I was a kid... lighting candles, coming up with games to play or stories to keep us occupied, being creative with food... it added a little excitement to it all!

What a beautiful post! I did 24 hours of silence when I was a teenager. It is still one of the most profound experiences of my life. Thanks for sharing!

Such a peaceful way to spend a day in our hectic world. I'm sure everyone there reaped great benefits. It seems that Little might be as fascinated by storms as her Mom and Uncle have always been.

Jana... Your description of the birds and breezes, and leaves and cicadas brought peace to me just reading it. It certainly is God's majesty. And I always like to say, too, that it's God's design that we have the technology to have conveniences (or necessities!) like air-conditioning and fans... and electricity in general!

Hi Jana...
What a wonderful retreat you went on. How much I would love to be alone and just be able to reflect and to be.
And I agree with you... as much as I may complain about modern day sometimes, and how nice it would be without alot of the "distractions" -- I could not do without my ceiling fans and a/c in our bedroom -- especially on the nights were it's so hot you can't breath!!
