Quick, before I get Sidetrack'd

An inspirational quote for Friday

Thoughtfully penned on February 15th, 2008 and generally concerning Quotes, Sidetrack'd
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury; and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable; and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart; to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasion, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony.
William Ellery Channing

I came across this quote the other day at my IRL friend Leah’s blog. It pretty well sums up many of my thoughts on simplicity, stopping to recognize God, and living intentionally.

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. When I saw the quote, I thought of this Bible verse. I love it.

    1 Thessalonians 4 10-12
11Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, 12so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody
Karen Pirkle – I am friends with your sister in law and mother in law.

  2. i, of course, love it! and i love the Bible verse that Karen left. living simply sounds so wonderful.
