Quick, before I get Sidetrack'd

Reclaiming my jeans

Thoughtfully penned on March 10th, 2010 and generally concerning Goals, Pregnancy

It’s kind of funny (in a not so funny sort of way) how my body has changed as I’ve gotten older and as a result of each of my three pregnancies.

Little was born when I was 27. I gained a total of 24 pounds while I was pregnant with her. At my 6 weeks post-partum check up I had lost 26 pounds. Then I lost another 20 pounds while she was nursing.

Boo was born when I was 29. I gained a total of 32 pounds while I was pregnant with him. At my 6 weeks post-partum check up I had lost 22 pounds. I lost the other 10 pounds before he was a year old, but then gained them back before my pregnancy with Baby Girl.

Baby Girl was born when I was 30. I gained a total of 40 pounds while I was pregnant with her. At my 6 weeks post-partum check up I had lost 20 pounds. And here I am, as Baby Girl turns 2 months old, holding steady at 20 pounds to lose.

So, I decided to get going this week in an effort to reclaim my jeans. I’ve teamed up with my SIL for encouragement and support, and we’re embarking on a get-in-shape/weight loss journey.

Right now I’m just doing T-Tapp, a 15 minute toning/cardio routine that I’ve had success with in the past. After the 14 day “boot camp” with T-Tapp I plan to add in some Wii Fit or walking as well.

I might have also mentioned in Matt’s hearing that I might need to do something drastic like give up chocolate. So I guess I’m doing that too. Short-term, at least.

And to further my accountability, I’m going to write about my successes (or failures) right here.

Wish me luck.

And motivation.

Noise from the peanut gallery

  1. good for you! i gained 50 with faith, lost 60 after she was born/nursing, then gained 25 back. go figure. i keep telling myself i should get moving, but then i figure i should just wait until after we have another baby. you know, whenever that may be, ha!

  2. Good luck! Your weight loss is similar to mine EXCEPT for baby no 1. I still have yet to lose what I gained with him…. I lost the majority of it, but my body is so different. I have never had a tummy until baby no 1….. ugh…. and here I sit. Kids screaming, tv blaring, Hubbie still not home and baby crying…. and I have YET to do Day 4…… soon…. :) Love you!

  3. I wish I could be in there with you like the last time but for now I may be a stumbling block to you……..since I guess I need to kick up my eating to gain at least 5 pounds before my 5th month! That sounds really weird! Good luck, I promise not to eat chocolate in front of you…..now popsicles may be another story, they are my new craving (Tim is at the store now stocking up on them for me)!

  4. Ok- did day 4 at 10 o’clock at night! Off to bed!

  5. Good luck getting back into your jeans! My weight is such a roller coaster with having babies every 2 years! I don’t even want to think about losing it after this baby is born.

  6. does this mean I have to give up chocolate also? I may need you for motivation to at least give up some of it. I am not committing to all. I do need some help and motivation, so lets do it together.

  7. You can do it! I am trying to get back to pre-baby, and my Best Girl is 5. I guess it’s better late than never! I hope that running will help, but I’m sure eating birthday cake this weekend did NOT help!
