Quick, before I get Sidetrack'd

40 weeks 4 days

Thoughtfully penned on August 12th, 2011 and generally concerning M, Pregnancy

Today I am officially the most pregnant I’ve ever been.

When I hit 36 weeks or so, people began asking if I thought she would come early. Based on the progression of my children’s gestation, we’re right about where I thought we would be. E was 39 weeks, J was 39 weeks 4 days, S was 40 weeks 3 days. When they hear this, people almost always ask, “don’t later babies usually come earlier?” Well, maybe statistically, but not around here.

I go back to the doctor this afternoon (unless Baby M surprises us in the next few hours) and we’ll see if we’re making progress toward the big day. Doc wants to induce next week (at 41 weeks) if she isn’t here yet. I’m not wild about scheduling an induction since I would like to avoid pitocin, but we’re to the point where conventional medicine says it’s time for baby to be born (don’t get me started…unfortunately, we live in an area that is unfriendly to midwives, birthing centers, etc).

All I can do is rely on God to know what is best and trust that whatever happens is in his hands.

Either way, I’m ready to meet this baby girl!

Noise from the peanut gallery

  1. I think she’s waiting until it cools off a bit! Its miserable having a newborn (and older ones) when its so hot! We can’t go do anything!!! Once the cool front hits (After Sunday) she’ll be poppin out! ;) At least, thats my opinion! :) Love you guys and praying for you daily! I’ve never gone past 39 weeks and I was way past ready, so I can imagine you are super duper ready!!

  2. I’ll be praying for you! I know you are all excited to meet her!

I am not sure if you have had pitocin before, but my experience with it was not that bad. We would probably still be trying to coax K. J. out. She was in no rush & it still took her 15 hours to get here. She was quite content were she was. It was quite annoying since I had K. T. in 6 hours & was only at the hospital for 3 of those hours, before she appeared. Just need for you both to be safe & sound. I love you girly, please take care.

I see the Anne books on your list. Kelsey & I enjoyed those together many years ago. I loved that she loved them as much as I did. I hope you & Em can share them too.

  5. The moon has been big and round. Babies have been popping out like crazy in my neck of the woods. She is just waiting till it is a bit cooler. Such a smart girl! Love you all bunches. I loved all the Anne books too.
