It’s been a day of moments.
Like this one…
They never would have posed like that if I’d asked them; it was just part of their play.
Or the one where S came into the room carrying a bag and said she’d just “got back from down the town to kafari (safari).”
Or the one where the four were headed outside to play safari with E in a fire fighter jacket, J in an Air Force flight suit, and S in her giraffe costume.
Or the one where J woke up asking if he could do more math today.
Or the ones where M nodded or shook her head (or whole body, rather) to answer a question.
Or the one going on right now where they are all happily playing in one room together.
December four is good.

, Giving Thanks
Also known as Thanksgiving, Day 4.
Today I am thankful for these monkeys.
Well, really ladybug, kitty cat, giraffe, and spiderman, I guess.
You might get the idea that someone wasn’t happy about this whole situation.
Gotta love 2 year olds!
But, seriously, I love these four people more than I ever thought possible. They bring love, joy, and fun to my life. (Also headaches, heartache, and chaos; if we’re being honest)
So today (and every day), I am thankful for these four blessings God has given me to mother.

On the fourth we spent the morning at the park with friends. Enjoying the moment and visiting with someone is who is dear to me, yet I don’t see often, meant pictures were forgotten in the fun. The four were there. The memories are there. Even if there is no photographic evidence.
Last Tuesday we spent a good part of the day at the zoo with friends. The weather was beautiful. The kids had fun. I enjoyed visiting with another friend. I remembered to capture some of the moments on “film”.
Part of living in the moment is being present without distraction. Enjoying the time and making memories without the presence of the camera.
Part of living in the moment is being present and recording the fun. Enjoying the time and taking pictures to look back on and remember.
Both are good. Both are right.
My life is hectic. Often the camera is forgotten. But I hope my children remember – remember the fun, remember the friends, remember the joys of their childhood.
If they do, I have served them well.

I’ve had this on my phone for weeks but haven’t taken the time to post it. Here are my four acting goofy at the zoo. (And check out M’s face; she seems to disdain the entire thing.)

Still not posted on the fourth, but I’m getting closer. That counts for something, right?
It is incredibly difficult to get four children under 6 to look in the same direction. It is even more difficult to get them to stay still for 2 seconds so they aren’t just big blurs.
It is not, however, difficult to get them to act silly.

So, I’m a little late again this month. Here’s my little gang in February.

It is my intention to begin posting a picture of my four kiddos every month on the fourth (thanks for the inspiration, Steph!). I missed yesterday, but caught this shot this morning during our photo shoot with Bel Momento Photography (thank you, Amanda!).
I know it isn’t a great shot, but it is what I have.
