Boo
It is hard to believe that Boo is already three months old! He is such a sweet boy (well, maybe not when he’s screaming at 4 in the morning, but most of the time) and has a very pleasant disposition. He coos and babbles and smiles much more readily than his sister did at this age. We think he will be our social child.
As I was writing the posts last week about our trip to Granny and Papa’s house, memories kept surfacing of the times we’ve spent there.
The memories for Matt go back to the beginning. He remembers when the land was just that, land, filled with trees and potential. He remembers the steps along the way to completing the house and Granny and Papa making the move out there. He has fond childhood memories of summer visits, playing in the creek, fishing in the pond, and walking in the woods. He always said he wished he could spend the whole summer at Granny and Papa’s instead of only a week.
There are also lots of memories that we’ve made there together. My first visit was just over 10 years ago. Matt and I had only been dating a few months, and he took me to meet his grandparents while we were in town for Spring Break from college. I fell in love with his grandparents and their place immediately and am very thankful that I’m still visiting a decade later and have so many good times to reflect on.
This was the place we were married. In the kitchen we ate chicken salad sandwiches as we waited for time for the ceremony. In Granny’s huge garden we were photographed with our families. Under a rose arbor we pledged our love for each other as we said our vows.
This was the place we made our first home. The first two months of our married life we lived in the little house on Granny and Papa’s property (originally built for Matt’s great-grandmother). We would come home in the evenings to find fresh picked tomatoes sitting on our back porch railing; we would go into the garden to pick corn from the stalk and blueberries straight from the bush. We would go down the driveway every Thursday evening to sit on the screened porch and chat. It was a special season in our life for many reasons, not the least of which was Matt finally getting to spend the whole summer at Granny and Papa’s house.
And now we have memories there with our children. Little standing beside the Christmas tree. A trip to play in the creek with her Daddy. Boo in Papa’s lap. Granny and Papa loving our children like they’ve always loved Matt.
I am thankful for all the memories we’ve created on the farm and especially with Granny and Papa. It is sad to see it go, but it will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Little,
Music
Last Tuesday a friend and I took the kids to a local museum. It is about a 20 minute trip, so I loaded up the iPod, hooked up the FM transmitter, and we hit the road listening to the Juno soundtrack.
On the way home, the last song ended and I turned off the radio since we were only a few miles from the house. As soon as Little realized that the music had stopped she began chanting, “more susic.” To appease my girl I turned the iPod back on and started a Caedmon’s Call album.
We were only a few seconds into the first song when I heard from the back seat – “not dis susic!” I asked if she wanted to listen to Juno again instead. “Uh huh,” she said. As the soundtrack began again she said, “Boo like dis song.” Um, yeah, I’m sure he does.
That evening I was telling Matt about what she’d said. He asked her what kind of music she liked, and she responded “Dee-no” (translation: Juno). Now anytime you ask her about music her response is “Dee-no.” She knows good music, and she definitely knows what she likes.

Boo,
Summer Fun
We had a really nice and enjoyable long weekend. It is always great to have Matt home for an extra day, and we had a couple of opportunities to hang out with friends which was nice.
Tuesday afternoon my friend L called and said her church group had a couple of extra tickets to see our local Minor League baseball team in action on Thursday night if we were interested in going with them. Little enjoys watching “throw-ball,” as she calls it, so we jumped at the chance. After Matt got home from work Thursday we loaded up the kids and headed downtown to the ballpark. We really enjoyed the game, there just isn’t anything like the atmosphere of a professional sporting event. The kids did well, and we enjoyed spending time with friends. We even left saying that we would like to go again sometime; although, it would be nice to go when it is cooler than 95 degrees.
Friday we just hung out around the house and enjoyed being together. We made a couple of trips to Target and Best Buy to get accessories for Matt’s new toy – an XBox 360 – but otherwise it was a pretty low-key holiday.
Saturday evening a couple of families from church came over to cookout. The kids loved playing Wii, and the adults enjoyed some time to chat and catch up. It was pretty crazy around here, with seven kids 10 years old and under, and quite noisy, but I think everyone had fun.
It was a pretty busy weekend (by our standards), but a good one. And best of all? Boo has given up his second nighttime feeding – one down, one to go!
